Phonak Paradise vs Widex Moment

Today, I’m comparing the feature differences between the Phonak Paradise and Widex Moment hearing aids over 8 different categories.  Both hearing aids are excellent options and offer the latest technology.  Your audiologist can help you determine which hearing aid is most appropriate for your needs.

#1 STYLES

First, let’s talk about the available hearing aid styles.  The Phonak Paradise hearing aids are available as a RIC (or receiver-in-canal) that sits behind the ear and also as a custom molded Phonak Virto Paradise that sits inside the ear.  The RIC comes in four different varieties: the Audeo Paradise, Audeo Life, Audeo Fit, and Slim.  Some of the features include activity tracking, heart rate monitoring, and waterproofing.

The Phonak Paradise is available in 7 colors as a RIC and 3 colors (including black) as a custom molded in ear device.  You have the option of using a disposable size 10, 13, 312, or rechargeable battery depending on the style that you choose.  A telecoil for better hearing on the phone is also available in select models.

The Widex Moment hearing aids are available as a BTE (behind-the-ear), RIC, ITE (in-the-ear), CIC (completely-in-canal), and CIC micro.  The BTE and RIC come in 13 different colors, and the custom molded in ear devices like ITE, and CICs come in 3 different colors.  You also have the option of using a disposable size 10, 13, 312, or a rechargeable battery depending on the style you choose.  A telecoil for better hearing on the phone is available in select models.

#2 RECHARGEABILITY

The Phonak Paradise offers rechargeable batteries in the RIC style only.  There’s three charging options: the Phonak Charger Case with optional Power Pack, the Phonak Charge and Care which helps remove moisture from your hearing aids, and the Phonak Charge Case Go for the Audeo Life hearing aid.

The Widex Moment offers rechargeable batteries in the BTE and RIC styles.  There’s two charging options: the Widex Standard Charger and Widex Charge n Clean which helps remove moisture from your hearing aids.

#3 WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

The Phonak Paradise offers wireless connectivity for all styles that sit behind the ear and one in ear style, the Virto Paradise 312.  The two smallest devices, the Virto Paradise Titanium and 10 NW are not wireless compatible.  Direct audio streaming is available for Apple & Android and other Bluetooth devices.  Your voice is picked up by the hearing aid’s microphones for hands-free calls.

The Widex Moment offers wireless connectivity for all styles that sit behind the ear and in the ear including a wireless CIC.  Direct audio streaming is available for Apple & Android devices for the RIC and BTE styles.  Your voice is picked up by the phone, so it does not support hands-free calls unless you pair it with a Widex Com Dex wireless accessory that’s worn around your neck.

#4 WIRELESS ACCESSORIES

The Phonak Paradise is compatible with several wireless devices which send sound directly to the hearing aids for improved speech understanding.  You can use the TV Connector when watching TV, the Roger wireless microphones when listening to another person speaking in a noisy place, and the Remote Control for hearing aid adjustments.

The Widex Moment is also compatible with several wireless accessories that send sound directly to the hearing aids.  You can use the TV DEX or TV Play device when watching TV, the Com DEX remote microphone when listening to someone in a noisy situation, and the RC DEX remote for hearing aid adjustments.

#5 ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

Artificial intelligence (or AI) is used in the Phonak Paradise and Widex Moment hearing aids.  AI sound processing analyzes and transforms the sound for improved speech clarity and comfort in challenging listening environments.

Phonak Paradise uses AutoSense OS 4.0 automatic sound processing and artificial intelligence that’s always working in the background.  It’s available in the styles that sit behind and inside the ear.  Widex Moment hearing aids’ AI technology is accessible within the My Sound section of the Widex Moment Smartphone App.  This feature is available in the styles that sit behind the ear, the BTE and RIC.

#6 TINNITUS

Do you have tinnitus or ringing in the ears?  If so, make sure to consult with your physician and audiologist.  Your provider can determine if a tinnitus masker is appropriate for you.  Both the Phonak Paradise and Widex Moment hearing aids offer tinnitus masking sounds, however the Widex Moment offers unique Zen tones that sound like musical tones or wind chimes.  Use of a tinnitus masker in addition to hearing aid amplification can help take your mind off of the tinnitus and make it less bothersome.

#7 APP

The Phonak Paradise RIC, BTE, and Virto P-312 hearing aids use the myPhonak app to control the hearing aid settings like volume, programs, and noise reduction.  You have access to additional features like activity tracking and health data for select hearing aid models.  You also have the ability to complete remote hearing aid adjustments with your audiologist within the app as well.

The Widex Moment RIC and BTE hearing aids use the Moment app to control volume, programs, and noise reduction on the hearing aids.  You can also access SoundSense Learn AI sound processing within the app.  The other Widex Moment styles use the Widex ToneLink app for hearing aid adjustments, however Tonelink does not feature SoundSense Learn.  Remote hearing aid adjustments with your provider are possible when using the RemoteLink device around the neck as well as the Widex Remote Care app.

#8 UNIQUE FEATURES

The Phonak Paradise and Widex Moment hearing aids offer a few unique features.  The Phonak Paradise RIC style has the ActiveVent Receiver which is an automatically adjusting vent built into the hearing aid speaker that sits inside the ear canal.  This vent opens and closes depending on the sound environment around you to optimize the sound quality for your voice, speech and environmental sounds, and music streaming.

Motion Sensor Hearing adjusts the microphone sensitivity to improve speech understanding in noisy situations while walking in select rechargeable battery Phonak Paradise hearing aid models.

The Phonak Audeo Life, Audeo Fit, and Slim offer health data tracking.  The Audeo Life is water and sweatproof up to 50 cm, the Audeo Fit features a heart rate sensor, and the Phonak Slim is long and shaped to follow the natural curvature of the head.

The Phonak Paradise RIC rechargeable hearing aids offer tap control.  A double tap of your ear will allow you to answer or end a phone call, play or pause music, or activate the voice assistant.  This feature is available in select RIC models.

Unique to the Widex Moment hearing aid is True Input Technology.  This feature allows the hearing aid to accept a higher sound input level, so a wider dynamic range of sound can enter the hearing aid for processing.  An increased dynamic range results in more natural sounding music.  You also have access to a frequency response up to 10,000 Hz in select styles.
